These two ornaments, Curlicue and Bamboo, are random and improvised. It took a session, which lasts anywhere from 2 - 4 hours on average, to paint those, and the three extra-large Golden Grapes pictured at the bottom, in three coats each. The two ornaments will turn out blue, although they look white at the moment. It took more time and patience to individually paint the bamboo shoots in orange, white and red (colours of the WOL flag), because the gaps between each were so narrow, the tip of a dart was needed to try and apply tiny dabs of paint. It's impossible to cover every square millimetre, so hopefully marker pen will cover any missed areas, once they are fired.
It would look more impressive if the rail you can see on Bamboo was painted in a different colour, but it would have taken donkeys. The head on Curlicue is painted gold, which may or may not leak in the kiln and dribble over the flag.
The gold paint used to paint the grapes is very thick and dries almost instantly, so it is difficult keeping track of how many coats you have put on. Any less than 3 coats and they don't look gold at all.
