DB Tinkerbell Latest

I wish I knows how to record straight into the PC computer, man, or had the means to do it. You get me? That way I would be knockin out way more tunes, I tell ya. Instead, I have to waits until my neighbours have gone out so I can blast my tracks into the microphone. I can’t tell you how much quality you lose recording in this ancient way. It’s criminal. Still, beats recording onto a cassette while another cassette is playing at the same time, to get 2 track songs!

My neighbours are tossers, by the way. They’re new. They have no respect, bruv. Dogs, babies, noise, the lot. Litter, comings and goings, po-lice, you name it and they’re doing it. I’m not concerned about my beltin synth beats disturbing them – I’m more stressed about picking up their commotion on my microphone. Words needed soon. They're taking p*ss.

It’s not an ideal situation. I get told I’m wasting my time unless my material is digitally recorded. I almost agree. But that’s the difference between pro and amateur. Not the passion, or commitment, but a lead, or piece of equipment.

Latest song is a revamp of UN FLOW, which is linked at the bottom. Slightly heavier, faster, you know. It’s far less restrained, with all eggs in the basket. Gung-ho on this one baby. It’s not just about new songs but reworking existing ones too.

I flip the bird because if someone is cheeky enough to point a camera in my face, I’ll point my finger right back at em.

Peace out and chillax. DB

Gaga vs Cole vs Tatu

Wheel of Life DJ, DB Tinkerbell, who owns a musical keyboard, compares the stars. Stephen King, who writes his first drafts in silence these days and only cranks the music during the rewrite, says that music by pop stars with only one name are typically denied airplay in his house (sorry, Chico). Here, we don't care about that. Kesha, for example, and her song 'Take It Off', rocks! Pop is strong. The UK Top 40 can be a treasure chest of party beats. All pictures below are from the music videos Bad Romance (Lady Gaga), Parachute (Cheryl Cole), and Sparks (Tatu).
-----------------------------------------------------------------

For a couple of shots in the middle of Bad Romance, the dancers are jerking like insects, like puppet zombies, their heads and limbs all moving in oppsite directions in a brief moment of disordered harmony. They are each doing their own thing but as a whole they all gel and look great with Gaga in the centre pulling a gritty expression. When she poses against a backdrop of flames, she uses her own extra backing vocals on the word 'revenge', while batting her eyelashes.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Parachute is more a more classy affair. Cole is garcefully passed around male Latin dancers. It's a poignant, peaceful, and provocative track, the complete opposite to Gaga's boot-stomper. Considering the stick this girl gets, it's a divine effort, and a valid transition from girl band nobody to solo somebody. The above pik wins The Blob's 'Best Shot' Award.
---------------------------------------------------------------

In their video Sparks, this young duo, and Russia's biggest musical export, become women. It's a stage shoot, with the girls doing very little movement to much great effect, enhanced by ace camera work. They have have found their groove and matured in tandem. They've been around for over 10 years and are still only 25. For me [Tinkerbell], these are the best, and not only for their greater number of nod-along songs. No other dance outfit has as many cool tracks as these. No one else sounds like them, either. Creamy female vocals in a foreign tongue (they sing in english too) layered over synths? Deal.

Music Update

Yamaha XDJ
DB Tinkerbell's fingers are back where they belong again......roaming over plastic keys. He's been out of production for what must be a whole 2 years, with only a miserable organ to keep his practice up after losing his previous equipment to weather damage. The organ was hardly dusted off, it was so rubbish. This is only his third keyboard (which equals his number of cars), and he is delighted to have secured another Yahama. After proving himself by really playing his way through every note during the The Aliens Are Coming (2006), if that makes any sense, it is now time to sit back with a machine like this and let the samples do the work, finally giving meaning to the catchphrase: 'Going for a key change...'

"Got a fantastic lucky deal considering what you get for your buck in an Argos catalogue," says Tinkerbell after first impressions with his new toy. "It's taken me 2 hours to know where I am with it though. It's like a honeymoon period where we are both getting to know each other. At first I thought it wasn't for me, because I like to play, but this is a fantastic noise machine. Ideally, I have 2 keyboards, one to compose melodies and one to make noises. I've got the other one lined up, a PSR 1700, another oldie. First thoughts with this thing though is this: Give me a bit of time, and I could stand in for Tiesto at Ibiza."

DB Tinkerbell will continue to upload existing tracks onto his YouTube channel while working on new ones for the future. Simply search Quasarboy 77 on YouTube for videos. All videos courtesy of Ya what, ha? Productions®.

DB Tinkerbell

Album Title: The Aliens Are Coming

Composed on: Yamaha PSR-160, PSS-360, YRS-248

Is a musician only as amateur as his instruments. He has always said that if WOL could give him a studio then he would give WOL the world. He created his debut album on ancient second-hand keyboards. His tagline was, at the time, although not any more, ‘music without computers’. Despite the concept being good, and the most notable tracks very moody, the ultimate recording of the project was not even competent enough to be classed as amateurish. At times the CD can be tinny and hissy to the extent that one reviewer deemed it ‘horrendous’(although it was a close friend trying to get some kip at six in the morning after a very heavy night!)

There are more tunes to be released from that same album at a slower tempo, and a couple of additional new bonus tracks, but work will not begin on a new album until WOL can provide some more modern equipment. Then he hopes to compile his second album in the blink of an eye.

Personally, I still immensely enjoy ‘The Aliens Are Coming’ now and again, but sometimes I feel like it hurts my ears.
